Reggie and Derek Madison are brothers and best friends. They trust and confide in each other. Derek introduces Reggie to Brenda and they marry. Although they have a loving marriage, they yearn for children. After years of trying to have a baby, Brenda thinks she’s expecting.
Brenda discovers she’s not pregnant. Instead, the doctor explains she has an incurable disease. Reggie and Brenda search for a treatment, but she losses her battle and dies. After her death, Reggie becomes depressed and lonely. Derek's ex-wife, Heather, fills the void Reggie seeks and requires. Unbeknownst to Reggie, Heather manipulates him while she tries to ruin Derek’s marriage.
Heather convinces Reggie that Derek isn’t giving her enough money for their daughters' necessities. To help with her finances, Reggie gives her part of Derek’s inheritance. Derek discovers what his brother did, and it puts a wedge in their relationship. Neither brother understands that the trouble between them stems from Heather’s deceit.
