For the last few nights things haven’t been going well for Danny Caldron. First there are the dreams. They have haunted him since childhood. The nightly reveries cater images of children with claws and teeth that tumble from their mouths like spikes. And then there are the crates, the boxes that hold them. In one dream a giant hand grabs Danny and tosses him into a box with a small child with blood on its teeth. Danny is startled awake. Yet there is little memory of the dream or the ones before. Only he knows something isn’t right. Then there is his wife who Danny believes can read his thoughts. He sometimes feels her rummaging around inside his head. He has secretes he doesn’t want shared, squirmy things that need to be hidden. But mostly there’s a wrongness building inside him. He can feel it each night when he goes to bed. So when Marr suggest they go to a movie, to forget things for a while, Danny discovers that the wrongness is no longer contained in his dreams. It thrives on the silver screens of the theaters. And it starts with the disappearance of his wife.
