Jennifer Johnson McCarthy has a stubborn streak a mile wide, and it puts into motion a series of events that will change her life forever. A spat with her husband on the beach in Destin, Florida. A near drowning. And a chance encounter with Hank -- a mysterious old man with a story to tell. What is it about Hank's stories and the town of Oak Springs that fascinate her so?

Her husband and Granny Ev are determined she should not hear the old man's tales. Now, with her marriage falling apart and everyone second-guessing her every move, Jennifer has a choice to make: return to her over-bearing husband and resume a life of privilege or start anew.

The future awaits. But so does the past.

About Rick Burnham (Tallahassee, Florida Author)

Rick Burnham

Rick Burnham traveled the world over during his twenty-two years in the U.S. Air Force, but his heart never really left the Florida Panhandle, where he spent his early years, growing up in the small town of Jasper. It is there that you will find the fictional towns at the heart of his first two books: Lute Casey - Redneck Vampire, and Moon over Berlin.

Rick is a 2013 graduate of Valdosta State University, where he majored in English. He also has a degree in Psychology from Saint Leo University. When he is not writing, Rick spends the majority of his time at the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, where he serves as Editor in Chief of the Elder Update, a bimonthly newspaper published for seniors living in the Sunshine State. He dabbles in carpentry and struggles to maintain a two-and-a-half acre lot in rural Grady County, Ga., where he lives with wife Stephanie. They have a 10-year-old boxer named Gigi.
