Born in Albuquerque and a graduate of Del Norte High School, Bill Hubbard pursued his law enforcement career with the Lubbock (Texas) Police Department. By the time he attained the rank of sergeant, Hubbard was assigned to the Crimes Against Persons Section of the Detective Division. It was from that assignment that Sgt. Hubbard became aware of the collusion that existed involving forensic pathologist Dr. Ralph Erdmann and powerful Criminal District Attorney Travis Ware. While under oath on the witness stand in a pre-trial hearing of a capital murder case, Sgt. Hubbard dared to testify truthfully and thoroughly about his knowledge of layer after layer of this deception and corruption.

People who decide to become whistleblowers by exposing dangerous, corrupt or deadly practices, know the perils involved. They are often labeled liars and frauds by those they've accused, but rarely are they indicted on false charges. That nightmare became the reality of Sgt. Bill Hubbard. What ensued was a six-month legal battle as Hubbard fought for his reputation and career, which culminated in federal court in Amarillo as Hubbard’s legal team brought a RICO (Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) action against Ware, Erdmann, and their associates. The federal court subsequently issued a shocking and historic ruling.

About Bill Hubbard (Albuquerque, New Mexico Author)

Bill Hubbard

Bill Hubbard was born and raised in Albuquerque, where he graduated from Del Norte High School, and then set off to pursue his education and career. He holds a BA in English from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, and a Master of Arts in Theology from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1979, Hubbard embarked on a career in law enforcement, joining the Lubbock (Texas) Police Department. During his years there, he attained the rank of Sergeant, then taking an early retirement in 1994 in order to return to New Mexico.

Bill relocated to northern New Mexico, where he continued in law enforcement, spending time with the Red River Marshal’s Office and the Taos Police Department, as well as several years as Chief Investigator for the 8th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. In 2011, Bill Hubbard was appointed by Gov. Susana Martinez to be the Director of the Special Investigations Division of the New Mexico Department of Public Safety. In 2015, he retired to Albuquerque after some 37 years in law enforcement.

Throughout his career, Bill has continued to write. Of course, there were those "excellent" police reports, but he has also had articles published in several professional police publications, usually concentrating on police ethics and integrity. Bill was also a contributor to "Stories of Faith and Courage from Cops on the Street," published by AMG Publishers in 2010, which is in its fourth printing. He is also a frequent speaker at churches and police training events. Bill also continues to mentor many younger police officers as they navigate their way through life and their careers. Along with his wife of over 30 years, Debbie, Bill is active in Christian ministry, currently teaching 14-week semesters of Marriage Enrichment at their local church.

Bill's interests include personal fitness, distance running, and following the baseball teams of Oral Roberts University (Go, Golden Eagles!), the Albuquerque Isotopes, and the Texas Rangers.
